Verified Kelwa Beach

Maharashtra, India

Kelwa Beach, also known as Kelva or Kelwe Beach, is a pristine and tranquil 8-kilometer-long stretch of coastline in Palghar district, Maharashtra, India, located about 80 kilometers north of Mumbai along the Arabian Sea and considered one of the cleanest, most untouched, and silent beaches in India.

The beach is famous for having the longest stretch of beautiful coastline in the Palghar district, with clean golden black sand, clear waters, and magnificent Suru (casuarina) trees lining the shore that create a soothing rhythm as their leaves sway with the gentle waves. It has become a popular weekend getaway for tourists from Mumbai, often called "Mini Goa for Mumbaikars," though it is less crowded compared to Alibaug or Kihim beaches, making it ideal for those seeking a quiet yet beautiful destination.

Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls along the shoreline, witness breathtaking sunrises and sunsets (the beach looks its best during early mornings and just after sunset), swim in the sea, relax under the shade of casuarina trees, and indulge in activities like horse riding and camel riding.
