Kiviloo Manor
Kiviloo, Estonia, Estonia
Kiviloo Manor is a historic estate in Harju County, northern Estonia, located in the village of Kiviloo.
The site began as an episcopal castle founded in 1413 and served as an important residence for the bishops of Tallinn. Although the original fortified complex was destroyed during the Livonian War in the 16th century, some ruins of the medieval castle can still be seen today. The current manor house was built between 1906 and 1910 by the von Stackelberg family after an earlier wooden manor was destroyed by fire.
Designed in a historicist style with Art Nouveau and Neo-Gothic influences, the building is notable for its picturesque architecture and landscaped surroundings. Today, Kiviloo Manor remains a significant cultural heritage site that reflects both Estonia’s medieval ecclesiastical history and its later manor-house tradition. The manor house survives in private ownership, while the nearby castle ruins provide a reminder of the estate’s centuries-long history.
