Kłaczyna
Poland, Poland
Kłaczyna is a small village in southwestern Poland's Lower Silesian Voivodeship, within Świdnica County and Gmina Dobromierz, located on the Przedgórze Sudeckie plateau near the Nysa Szalona River at the boundary of Pogórze Kaczawskie and Pogórze Wałbrzyskie hills.
First documented in 1249 as Chuderovo in a medieval charter resolving a dispute between Duke Bolesław II Rogatka and Wrocław Bishop, it transitioned from a Slavic settlement to a German-law village by 1272 under sołtys Otton, later hosting a knightly residence owned by families like the von Reibnitz who rebuilt a late 14th/early 15th-century castle on an island in river marshes.
Destroyed during the Thirty Years' War by occupying Swedes around 1630, the castle ruins—featuring fragmented walls, a corner bastion remnant, and a moat—now lie overgrown 300 meters south of the Roztoka-Bolków road bridge, alongside a railway halt serving the area's sparse population.
