Kopasz Hill, also known as Tokaj Hill, is the prominent volcanic hill rising above the historic town of Tokaj in northeastern Hungary.

Standing at about 512 meters, it overlooks the famous Tokaj wine region, a UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape renowned for its vineyards and world-famous wines. The hill is of volcanic origin and is covered by unique soils formed from volcanic rock and loess, which contribute to the exceptional character of Tokaji wines.

Its geology has played a key role in shaping the region’s centuries-old wine-making tradition. Kopasz Hill is a popular destination for hiking and sightseeing, offering spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards, the Bodrog and Tisza rivers, and the picturesque countryside of Tokaj-Hegyalja. 

Trails lead through forests and wine-growing landscapes to viewpoints near the summit. Today, the hill is one of the defining landmarks of Tokaj, valued for its natural beauty, geological significance, and deep connection to Hungary’s most famous wine-producing region.
