Köpenick Palace is a beautiful Baroque water palace located on an island in the Dahme River in southeastern Berlin.

Built on the site of much older Slavic and medieval fortifications, it began as a Renaissance hunting lodge in 1558 for Elector Joachim II of Brandenburg and was later expanded into a grand Baroque residence by the Hohenzollern rulers. The palace played an important role in Prussian history, serving as a royal residence, a military court venue, and an administrative center over the centuries.

Its location surrounded by water and gardens gives it a distinctive and picturesque character. Today, Köpenick Palace is home to the Museum of Decorative Arts, part of the Berlin State Museums. Visitors can explore impressive interiors and collections of Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo decorative art while also learning about the long history of the palace and its island setting.
