Kultur-Schloss Theuern

Kümmersbruck, Germany, Germany

---

Kultur-Schloss Theuern, also known as Hammerschloss Theuern, is a late Baroque palace in the Kümmersbruck district of Theuern.

The current building was constructed around 1780–1781 on the site of an older manor and industrial estate associated with ironworking, a key part of the region’s economy for centuries. The castle is closely tied to the industrial history of eastern Bavaria. Since 1972, it has housed the Mining and Industrial Museum of Eastern Bavaria, which explores the region’s mining, metalworking, glass production, and energy heritage.

Historic industrial structures, including an iron hammer mill and other technical monuments, have been preserved on the grounds. Today, Kultur-Schloss Theuern serves as both a museum and a cultural venue. In addition to its historical exhibitions, it hosts concerts, exhibitions, educational programs, and community events, making it one of the most important cultural landmarks in the Amberg-Sulzbach region.
