Lilacia Park
Lombard, Illinois, United States
Lilacia Park in Lombard, Illinois, is an 8.5-acre botanical garden renowned for its extensive collection of over 700 lilac bushes covering more than 200 varieties, alongside 50 varieties of tulips.
The garden’s origin dates back to the 1860s when Colonel William R. Plum and his wife Helen brought two lilac cuttings from France, which led to the expansive collection seen today.
The park was designed by the famous landscape architect Jens Jensen, who created winding paths, limestone benches, waterfalls, and ponds that reflect the natural beauty of the Illinois region.
Lilacia Park is also home to historic structures, a greenhouse, picnic areas, and a Victorian Cottage Museum. It hosts the annual Lombard Lilac Time Festival every May, featuring events like tours, tastings, concerts, and the crowning of the Lilac Queen. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2019, the park offers a serene setting celebrated for its vibrant colors, fragrant blooms, and cultural heritage.
