Llwyngarreg Garden
Whitland, United Kingdom, United Kingdom
Llwyngarreg Garden is a small, privately created 4‑acre garden near Whitland, on the border between Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire in southwest Wales.
It was started in 2000 by Liz and Paul O’Neill on what used to be rough agricultural land and has since grown into a rich “plantsman’s” garden designed for year‑round interest, with many rare and tender plants alongside familiar favourites.
Visitors walk through a series of intimate garden areas including a stream and bog garden, a bamboo tunnel, mixed borders, a potager, and a woodland section with acers, rhododendrons, and magnolias, all under‑planted with perennials and grasses.
The garden is opened mainly for charity under the National Garden Scheme, so it feels personal and informal, with added charm from quirky willow structures, benches, and simple home refreshments offered by the owners.
