Ludwigsburg Residential Palace is one of the largest and most impressive Baroque palaces in Germany.
Built beginning in 1704 for Duke Eberhard Ludwig of Württemberg, it evolved from a hunting lodge into a grand royal residence and became the center of political and cultural life in Württemberg. Often called the “Versailles of Swabia,” the palace features a remarkable blend of Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical architecture.
With hundreds of rooms, lavish state apartments, an original palace theatre, and beautifully decorated halls, it is one of the best-preserved royal residences in Europe. Today, the palace is a major cultural attraction, housing several museums and hosting exhibitions, concerts, and events. Surrounded by extensive gardens and parkland, it offers visitors a fascinating insight into the lives of the Württemberg rulers and more than 300 years of German history.
