Marwood Hill Gardens
Guineaford, England, United Kingdom
Marwood Hill Gardens is a 20‑acre private garden in Guineaford, North Devon, set in a secluded valley just a few miles from Barnstaple.
Created by the late Dr Jimmy Smart from the late 1950s onward, it has grown into a rich, layered landscape of ornamental lakes, woodland paths, rare trees, and carefully curated plant collections. The garden features three lakes connected by waterfalls and a scented arbour, plus a bog garden, bluebell wood, wild garden, and themed areas such as a camellia and hydrangea walk and a conifer collection.
It is home to several National Plant Collections, including award‑winning astilbes and tulbaghias, and welcomes visitors seasonally with a tea room, plant sales, and free parking.
