Meßkirch Castle
Meßkirch, Germany, Germany
Meßkirch Castle in Meßkirch, Germany, stands as one of the earliest quadrangular Renaissance palaces north of the Alps, constructed starting in 1557 by Count Froben Christoph von Zimmern to replace an earlier decaying fortress from around 1400.
Designed by architect Jörg Schwarzenberger, this four-winged structure boasts Germany's oldest Renaissance hall with a magnificent coffered ceiling, alongside a picturesque inner courtyard garden ideal for events. Today, it serves as a vibrant cultural hub featuring castle tours, the Martin Heidegger Museum dedicated to the local philosopher, a county art gallery, and the Oldtimer Museum showcasing vintage cars and motorcycles.
