Meanguera del Golfo is a small municipality located on Meanguera Island in the Gulf of Fonseca within La Unión Department, El Salvador, about 30 kilometers from the mainland town of La Unión and over 200 kilometers from the capital, San Salvador. The area covers roughly 23.6 square kilometers and had a population of around 2,400 people as of 2007.

Surrounded by the waters of the Gulf, the island is part of a region where El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua all share coastlines and have historically disputed territorial claims, though international rulings have awarded Meanguera Island to El Salvador.

The setting is known for its scenic landscapes and proximity to the meeting point of three nations, making it both a site of geographic significance and a tranquil getaway with limited development and infrastructure.
