Moritzschlösschen
Wallerstein, Germany, Germany
Moritzschlösschen is a small neoclassical palace located in the Hofgarten of Wallerstein, Bavaria, Germany. The central building was constructed in 1803 for Johann Anton von Beli di Pino, a senior official serving the princely Oettingen-Wallerstein family, and was later expanded with two side wings to create its elegant three-wing layout. The palace became associated with Princess Wilhelmine of Oettingen-Wallerstein, who lived there with her daughters, and later with Prince Moritz of Oettingen-Wallerstein, from whom it received its current name. Despite the name, Prince Moritz rarely resided there himself. Today, Moritzschlösschen remains an important historical landmark within the Wallerstein palace grounds. Its refined architecture and landscaped surroundings reflect the aristocratic heritage of the region and add to the cultural significance of Wallerstein.
