Mühlburg is a historic hilltop castle in the municipality of Drei Gleichen in Thuringia, Germany.

Perched above the village of Mühlberg, it is considered the oldest of the famous Drei Gleichen castles and is often regarded as one of the oldest surviving castle structures in Thuringia. The castle’s history stretches back over a thousand years, with references linked to the site as early as 704.

Throughout the Middle Ages, it served as an important fortress controlling regional trade routes and played a significant role in the political and military history of the area. Today, Mühlburg survives as an impressive castle ruin with its tower and sections of defensive walls still standing. Visitors are drawn by its rich history, panoramic views across the Thuringian countryside, and its place within the picturesque Drei Gleichen ensemble of three medieval castles.
