Nanda Devi National Park in Uttarakhand, India, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site established in 1982, renowned for its spectacular Himalayan wilderness centered around Nanda Devi, India’s second-highest peak at 7,816 meters.

The park features rugged terrain with deep gorges, steep slopes, and alpine meadows, supporting diverse flora and fauna including endangered species like the snow leopard and Himalayan musk deer. It includes the Nanda Devi Sanctuary, a glacial basin surrounded by high peaks, and is drained by the Rishi Ganga Gorge.

The park, part of the larger Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, is an ecologically significant area with rare plants and animals, serving as a control site for natural processes in the Himalayas.

Its remote, largely inaccessible wilderness attracts mountaineers, ecologists, and nature lovers, with regulated access to protect its unique environment. The best time to visit is from May to October when weather conditions are favorable.
