The National Botanic Garden of Wales, near Carmarthen in Carmarthenshire, is a large garden set on about 568 acres of countryside and home to more than 8,000 different plant species from around the world.

It was established at the turn of the millennium as a national Millennium project and combines a historic Regency landscape with modern conservation, science, and education work. A major highlight is the Great Glasshouse, designed by architect Lord Foster, which is the world’s largest single‑span glasshouse and houses a major collection of Mediterranean‑zone plants.

The site also includes themed gardens, lakes, waterfalls, native meadows, a National Nature Reserve, a Butterfly House, a Bird of Prey Centre, and family‑friendly features such as play areas and a Gruffalo Trail, making it a popular day‑out destination for visitors of all ages.
