National Trust – Biddulph Grange Garden is a Grade I listed Victorian garden near Stoke‑on‑Trent in Staffordshire, England, originally created in the 1840s by the horticulturist and plant collector James Bateman.

The site is set slightly below the remains of Bateman’s former house and is laid out in a series of “garden rooms” that take visitors on a playful journey through different regions of the world, including Italian terraces, an Egyptian court with a yew‑clipped pyramid and sphinxes, and a Chinese‑style water garden around Britain’s oldest surviving golden larch.

The design blends dramatic rockwork, tunnels, and topiary with dense plantings of rhododendrons, azaleas, and evergreens, giving it strong seasonal colour and a sense of discovery for adults and children alike. After falling into neglect, the garden has been meticulously restored by the National Trust and is now praised as one of the most unusual and imaginative surviving examples of High Victorian garden design in the country.
