Cotehele is a late‑medieval, Tudor manor house standing on a wooded slope high above the River Tamar, just a short distance from Saltash in eastern Cornwall and owned and managed by the National Trust.

The granite and slate‑stone house, built by the Edgecumbe family in 1485 and little altered since Tudor times, preserves tapestried rooms, collections of arms and armour, pewter and oak furniture, and a great hall with a massive timber roof. Around the house lie some 12 acres of historic gardens, orchards, and quiet woodlands, including terraces, ponds, heirloom daffodils, and a wide variety of apples grown in the estate’s walled orchards.

The wider Cotehele estate also includes Cotehele Quay with a working watermill, lime kilns, a Discovery Centre, and a moored restoration of the Tamar sailing barge “Shamrock,” making it a popular place for riverside walks, family activities, and seasonal events.
