Stowe Gardens, in Buckinghamshire, is one of the grandest 18th‑century landscape gardens in England and is now cared for by the National Trust.

It sits on a large parkland estate near the historic Stowe House, which is used by Stowe School, while the gardens themselves are Grade I listed and open to the public. The landscape was designed over several decades by leading figures such as Vanbrugh, Bridgeman, William Kent, and Capability Brown, and it features sweeping valleys, lakes, rivers, and more than 30 ornamental temples and monuments.

Visitors can walk through sweeping lawns, shady woodland paths, and along the lakeside, taking in the polished views and symbolic structures that were meant to represent an “earthly paradise” and reflect political and moral ideas of the time. The National Trust has restored many of the temples and opened further areas using historic plans, and the site also offers a café, shop, and regular events including guided walks and seasonal trails.
