Whipsnade Tree Cathedral is a 9.5‑acre tree‑planted memorial in Whipsnade, Bedfordshire, shaped like a traditional medieval cathedral with grass “aisles” and “walls” of trees forming the nave, transepts, chancel, cloisters, and chapels.

Created in the 1930s by Major Edmund Blyth as a personal act of “faith, hope and reconciliation” in memory of close friends killed in the First World War, it is one of only three tree cathedrals in the UK. The site is now cared for by the National Trust and remains open to visitors every day with free admission, offering a peaceful place for quiet walks, reflection, and small services held by different denominations.

The tree cathedral is Grade II listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens and continues to be tended through conservation work, including replanting affected areas, to preserve its distinctive form and spiritual atmosphere.
