Neues Schloss Kißlegg
Kißlegg, Germany, Germany
Neues Schloss Kißlegg is an elegant Baroque palace in the town of Kißlegg in the Allgäu region of Baden‑Württemberg, Germany, built between 1721 and 1727 to replace an older Renaissance residence.
It was designed by the Füssen master builder Johann Georg Fischer for the Counts of Waldburg‑Zeil and served as their local seat until the mid‑20th century, after which it passed into municipal ownership and now functions as both a cultural venue and a small museum run by the town.
The three‑story building features a stately façade, a richly decorated rococo staircase hall with eight large Sibyl sculptures by the baroque artist Joseph Anton Feuchtmayer, and two upper floors of richly stuccoed baroque rooms with frescoes depicting courtly life. Today the Neue Schloss stands in the heart of Kißlegg, surrounded by an English‑style park and used for rotating art exhibitions, guided tours, and community events, making it a central cultural landmark in the town.
