Neues Schloss Steinach

Steinach, Germany, Germany

---

Neues Schloss Steinach is a historic castle estate located on the Singberg hill near Steinach in Lower Bavaria, Germany.

It was built between 1904 and 1908 for industrialist Karl August von Schmieder and was designed by renowned architect Gabriel von Seidl. The impressive complex originally included a grand residence with nearly 200 rooms, extensive gardens, and numerous auxiliary buildings. During World War II, the property was used by Nazi administrative offices.

In April 1945, the main castle building was deliberately set on fire and destroyed, and the ruins were later demolished. Today, only parts of the original estate remain, including several outbuildings, sections of the park, and the landmark tower that survived the fire. The site is privately owned and is protected as a cultural heritage monument, making it an important reminder of the region’s architectural and historical past.
