Expanded significantly from 1470-1490 under Duke Ludwig IX and George the Rich of Bavaria-Landshut—with the massive Palas hall completed by 1489, towers, deep moat, and bastions—it served Wittelsbach rulers until 1447 before military use, now housing the Bavarian Army Museum since 1972 amid its white walls, red roofs, and courtyard cannons.
