Owiesno is a small village in southwestern Poland's Lower Silesian Voivodeship, within Dzierżoniów County, first documented in 1260 as a fortified gród settlement possibly linked to the Knights Templar, later evolving under the noble Pogorzela (von Pogarell) family.

Around the early 14th century, they constructed a circular knightly castle—about 30 meters in diameter with a courtyard, square tower, stone walls, and moat—near the old stronghold, which legends tie to a Tatar siege after the 1241 Battle of Legnica.

Rebuilt into a Baroque residence in the 17th-19th centuries by families like von Seidlitz, it decayed post-WWII neglect, with its tower collapsing in 1964, leaving fragmented walls, a Baroque portal inscribed "Nec Vita Nec Mors Separabit," and nearby landmarks like the 1583 Church of the Holy Trinity.
