Pałac Graboszyce - dwór obronny
Graboszyce, Poland, Poland
Pałac Graboszyce, known as a defensive manor (dwór obronny), is a late Renaissance structure in Graboszyce near Zator, Lesser Poland, built around 1570-1580 by royal secretary Dionizy (Dziwisz) Brandys on 15th-century Gothic cellar foundations from his relative Klemens Brandys. The two-story rectangular building features two ryzalits with gunports, a deep surrounding moat once crossed by a drawbridge (later a stone bridge with lost classical vases), four corner bastions, earth fortifications, and internal barrel-vaulted cellars, later modified with 18th-century Baroque elements, a 19th-century Romantic staircase, and neclassical gable by owners like the Sołtyks. Owned by noble families including Cichockis, Porębscy, Krasińskis, Russockis, and Chrząszczs until 1945, it stands amid a historic park with ancient trees like sessile oaks, now privately preserved near a wooden 16th-century St. Andrew's church on the Wooden Architecture Trail.
