Pałac Korfantów
Korfantów, Poland, Poland
Pałac Korfantów in Korfantów, southwestern Poland's Opole Voivodeship, is a late Renaissance palace built in 1616 on a small hill overlooking the Ścinawa Niemodlińska River valley, initially commissioned by nobleman Pilchner on the site of an earlier structure. Featuring a distinctive horseshoe-shaped plan with three wings enclosing a rectangular courtyard open to the west, it includes a central eastern ryzalit entrance with a stone portal, two-story wings topped by gabled roofs, a four-story square northeastern tower, a southern low bastion, internal arcades, and grand horse stairs, with notable late Renaissance portals preserved inside and out. Owned longest by the Schaffgotsch family after 1539 and passing through German Silesian nobles like Beroschinsky, Redern, and Pückler until 1945, it underwent major rebuilds in the 18th century, 1819, and late 19th century before postwar abandonment, looting, and conversion into the Opole Rehabilitation Center amid a historic park.
