Pałac w Czerninie
Poland, Poland
Pałac w Czerninie, located in the village of Czernina in Lower Silesia's Górowo Iławeckie County, Poland, began as a late 14th-early 15th-century knightly castle initiated by kasztelan Jan z Czerniny of the Wierzbno coat of arms, later passing through noble families like von Dohna—who secured town privileges from Władysław Jagiellończyk—and von Stosch who fortified and expanded it in the 16th century.
Transformed into a majestic Baroque residence at the end of the 17th century by Abraham von Stosch with a two-story structure topped by a fronton, oval alcoves, and a central cartouche displaying von Lestwitz and von Stosch arms amid a moat, it changed hands multiple times including to von Lestwitz before nationalization post-World War II.
Surviving the war intact but later used for agriculture and falling into ruin, the protected monument reveals underlying medieval stonework beneath brick walls and stands near a former Evangelical church tower in a partially preserved park.
