Palma Sola Botanical Park
Florida, United States
Palma Sola Botanical Park in Bradenton, Florida, began in 1990 when local citizens and community groups came together to save a 10-acre site that was once the Manatee County Nursery.
The nonprofit Palma Sola Botanical Park Foundation was established in 1993 to manage and preserve the park, which has since evolved into a lush green space featuring diverse sections such as a Tropical House with exotic plants, a Butterfly Garden, an Herb Garden, and a Children's Maze.
The park showcases collections of rare palms, fruits, flowering trees, and tropical fruits introduced by the Manatee Rare Fruit Council, including dragon fruit, lychee, and star fruit, among others. It also features three serene lakes, gazebos, walking paths, and picnic areas, welcoming visitors year-round for free to enjoy nature, bird watching, special events, and educational programs.
The park relies on donations and volunteers and has become a beloved community resource for conservation and horticulture education.
