Pécs-kő is a striking basalt rock formation rising above the forests near Salgótarján in northern Hungary.

Standing about 543 meters high, it is the exposed core of an ancient volcano, shaped by volcanic activity millions of years ago and later revealed through erosion. The rocky summit is a popular hiking destination, reached by forest trails and a short, steep climb that includes a rope-assisted section.

From the top, visitors enjoy wide panoramic views of Salgótarján, the Medves region, the Mátra Mountains, and, on clear days, even distant mountain ranges across the Slovak border. Pécs-kő is valued for both its geological significance and scenic beauty. Its dramatic basalt cliffs, volcanic origins, and excellent viewpoints make it one of the most distinctive natural landmarks in the Salgótarján area.
