Pfalzpaint Castle

Walting, Germany, Germany

---

Pfalzpaint Castle, also known as Burg Pfalzpaint, is a historic castle site in the village of Pfalzpaint, part of the municipality of Walting in Bavaria, Germany.

Built in the 12th or 13th century, it originally formed a fortified complex together with the nearby village church, helping protect the local community. Over the centuries, the castle changed owners several times and was expanded into a manor-like residence in the 16th century. Much of the original fortifications were later removed or incorporated into newer buildings, transforming the site from a medieval stronghold into a residential property.

Today, only parts of the original structure remain visible, most notably the lower section of a Romanesque tower integrated into a later building. Despite its altered appearance, the site is protected as a cultural monument and remains an important reminder of the region’s medieval history.
