Piratininga
Brazil, Brazil
Piratininga is a small municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, located about 285 kilometers west of the city of São Paulo and set at an average elevation of roughly 516 meters above sea level.
It covers an area of about 402 square kilometers, most of it rural, with a modest population of around 15,000 people, giving it a quiet, agricultural‑town character focused on farming and local commerce. The name Piratininga has older historical roots as well, originally referring to a plateau associated with the early Jesuit settlement that later grew into the city of São Paulo, but today it is mainly used for this inland São Paulo town rather than the state capital itself.
