Plas Brondanw
Penrhyndeudraeth, United Kingdom, United Kingdom
Plas Brondanw is a small country house and estate near Penrhyndeudraeth in Gwynedd, North Wales, set within the Snowdonia National Park above the Afon Glaslyn valley.
It is best known as the family home and creative retreat of Sir Clough Williams‑Ellis, the architect who later designed the famous Italianate village of Portmeirion, and the house and gardens reflect his romantic Arts‑and‑Crafts style.
The Grade II*‑listed mansion sits at the heart of a Grade I‑listed garden designed as a series of formal “garden rooms” with terraces, pools, stone walls, and sweeping views into the surrounding mountains and woodland.
Today the estate is managed by the Clough Williams‑Ellis Foundation and is open to visitors who come mainly to explore its elegant gardens, woodland paths, and quiet, picturesque landscape rather than the house itself.
