Praia do Cassino is a vast, nearly uninterrupted sandy beach in the municipality of Rio Grande, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, stretching along the South Atlantic Ocean on the border with Uruguay.
It is widely described as the longest sea beach in the world, running roughly from the breakwaters at the entrance of Rio Grande’s port to the mouth of the Chuí Stream, with measurements between about 212 and 254 kilometres depending on the source.
The beach is known for its wide, wind‑swept sands, relatively wild feel, and activities such as surfing, beach driving, and long‑distance beach runs, including the Cassino Ultra Race, while also attracting around 150,000 visitors each year, especially during the hot summer months from December to January.
