Raciążek is a historic village in north-central Poland's Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in Aleksandrów County, once holding town status from 1317 to 1870 and renowned for its bishops' castle ruins on the eastern village edge.
First noted in 1066 and granted to Włocławek bishops mid-13th century by Duke Casimir of Kuyavia, it featured an early wooden-earth hillfort razed by Teutonic Knights in 1330, later rebuilt into a brick Gothic castle hosting key events like Queen Jadwiga's 1397 talks and King Władysław Jagiełło's 1404 Dobrzyń Land treaty.
The Renaissance palace with a mansard roof decayed after Poland's partitions, with Prussian administrator Sydow dismantling it nearly to foundations in 1827 for materials shipped to Toruń and local farms, leaving scant remnants amid its strategic past.
