The Rainbow Palace of Culture (Szivárvány Kultúrpalota) is one of Kaposvár’s most distinctive cultural landmarks.

Designed by architect József Lamping and opened in 1928 as the city’s cinema, it is regarded as one of Hungary’s finest Art Deco buildings, featuring elegant architecture and richly decorated interiors with Egyptian-inspired motifs. Originally known as the City Motion Picture Theatre, it quickly became one of the country’s most prestigious cinemas.

After extensive restoration completed in 2010, the building was transformed into a modern cultural venue while continuing its cinematic tradition through the Rainbow Film Club. Today, the palace hosts films, concerts, conferences, exhibitions, and other cultural events, making it an important center of arts and community life in Kaposvár.
