Reichelsburg is a medieval castle ruin located near the village of Baldersheim, which is part of the town of Aub in Bavaria, Germany. First mentioned around 1230 and associated with the Lords of Hohenlohe-Brauneck, the castle occupied a strategic position above the Gollach Valley and later became part of the territories of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg. The castle played an important administrative role during the Middle Ages but was plundered and partially destroyed during the German Peasants’ War in 1525. Although parts of it were repaired and remained inhabited for some time, it gradually lost its importance and fell into ruin by the 18th century. Today, the Reichelsburg is a popular historical attraction featuring preserved sections of its keep, walls, cellars, and fortifications. Visitors can explore the ruins, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, and attend local cultural events such as the annual Reichelsburg Festival.
