Reinisch Rose Gardens
Topeka, Kansas, United States
The Reinisch Rose Gardens in Topeka, Kansas, established in 1930, is a historic and beautifully maintained botanical garden located within Gage Park.
It showcases over 400 varieties of roses with more than 6,500 rose bushes, including both newly bred hybrids and rare varieties no longer commercially available. The garden was initially inspired by Topeka's first landscape architect and horticulturist, E.F.A. Reinisch, who envisioned it in 1926.
Designed by Chicago landscape architect Emmett Hill and Kansas State Agriculture College's L.R. Quinlan, the garden was completed with funding from local donors. Adjacent to the rose garden is the Doran Rock Garden, a peaceful space featuring a reflecting pool, stone pedestrian bridge, and a variety of trees including cypresses and Japanese maples. The garden is renowned for its peak blooming seasons in late spring and early fall and is a popular spot for weddings, photography, and leisurely strolls.
It has received accolades such as Better Homes and Gardens' "More Beautiful America" recognition and the Historic Topeka Inc. Preservation Award.
