Roggenbacher Schlösser
Bonndorf, Germany, Germany
Roggenbacher Schlösser are a small group of medieval castle ruins located in the Steinatal valley near Wittlekofen, a district of Bonndorf in the Black Forest region of Baden‑Württemberg, Germany.
They date back to the 12th century and originally formed two linked fortified towers, today known as the ruins Roggenbach (also called Weißenburg) and Steinegg, standing a few hundred meters apart on a hillside above the Steina River. The site was built by the Counts of Nellenburg to control a river crossing and later came under the ownership of a nearby monastery until secularization in the early 19th century, after which it passed into the hands of the state of Baden‑Württemberg.
Today the ruins are visited mainly by hikers on a short circular trail that offers quiet forest views and a glimpse of local medieval history, with the surrounding area protected as part of the Southern Black Forest nature park.
