Rokitnica is a small village in southwestern Poland, situated on the northern edge of the Kaczawskie Foothills near Złotoryja in Lower Silesia.
Its history stretches back to the Neolithic period, with early medieval hillforts and a 13th-century castle that guarded gold mines and trade routes along the Kaczawa Valley, frequented by Duke Henry the Bearded.
The castle fell into ruins after 1451 following wars and mining decline, leaving remnants of walls, a moat, and fortifications, while the nearby Church of St. Michael the Archangel—originally Romanesque, later Gothic and Baroque—stands at the hill's base as a key landmark.
