Rosenschloss Gundelfingen, also known as Schloss Schlachtegg, is a historic castle in Gundelfingen an der Donau, Bavaria. The site was first mentioned in 1270 as a chapel and later became a monastery before being transformed into a residential castle between 1553 and 1560 using parts of the former monastic buildings. The castle is a two-wing Renaissance complex surrounded by a park and historic walls. Over the centuries, it passed through many owners and underwent numerous changes, including the addition of a chapel and artistic features such as Rococo furnishings and medieval wall paintings that were rediscovered during later renovations. After periods of decline and vacancy in the 20th century, the castle was extensively restored and reinvented as a cultural and creative venue. Today, the Rosenschloss is one of Gundelfingen’s most distinctive landmarks, admired for its historic architecture, landscaped gardens, and cultural significance.
