Royal Castle in Chęciny, perched on a rocky hill (367 m above sea level) in Chęciny, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Poland, was constructed at the turn of the 13th-14th centuries, likely initiated by Wacław II, King of Bohemia and Poland, as one of the earliest stone fortifications in Lesser Poland to protect nearby mining settlements. Expanded under Władysław Łokietek with a multi-sided curtain wall, two cylindrical towers, a residential building, and later a lower castle added by Kazimierz Wielki in the 14th century for economic facilities, it featured Gothic brick elements like machicolations and gable roofs under Władysław Jagiełło while serving as a judicial and noble gathering site. Further enhanced in the 16th century by Szafrańcowie starosts with arcades and a bakery in the former donjon, it declined after Swedish Deluge damage, with ruins preserved today as a historic monument offering panoramic views and hosting events.
