The Ruine der Nesselburg, also known as Burg Nesselburg, is the remains of a medieval hilltop castle located above Nesselwang in Bavaria, Germany.

Built in the late 13th century by the Lords of Rettenberg, it stands on a spur of the Alpspitz mountain at an elevation of about 1,038 meters, offering impressive views of the surrounding Allgäu landscape. The castle played an important administrative role for the Prince-Bishopric of Augsburg but suffered major damage during the German Peasants’ War in 1525 and was later devastated by another fire in 1595.

After that, it gradually fell into ruin. Today, visitors can see substantial remains of the defensive walls, gate area, and the distinctive shield wall that make Nesselburg one of the few surviving examples of this type of castle in the Allgäu region. The site is a popular destination for hikers interested in local history and scenic mountain views.
