Ruine Haimburg
Grosselfingen, Germany, Germany
Ruine Haimburg is the remains of a small medieval hilltop castle located on a rocky spur about 530 meters above sea level, roughly 2.5 kilometers west of the town of Grosselfingen in the Zollernalbkreis of Baden‑Württemberg, Germany.
The fortress was built between about 1275 and 1325, likely under Count Friedrich VI of Zollern, and first appears in written records in 1344; it was later rebuilt in 1420 and remained in use until around 1465 before being destroyed, probably in the Thirty Years’ War.
Today only low sections of the defensive wall, the moat, and the outlines of two polygonal ring walls remain, so the site is more of a wooded, atmospheric ruin than a major reconstructed castle. The ruins are on private property and cannot be visited for safety reasons, but the hilltop is still visible from the surrounding Eyachtal and is often mentioned in local hiking and castle‑trail descriptions.
