Constructed between 1100 and 1150, it featured a core castle with a residential tower and annex, outer bailey, courtyard, encircling wall, and neck ditch, though its builders and early inhabitants remain unknown, with the site mentioned in a 1544 boundary description after falling into decay by the 14th century.
Today, visitors can explore remnants of the tower and ditch via hiking trails that link it to nearby ruins like Hasenfratz, Vorder- and Hinterlichtenstein, blending into the region's rugged, forested landscape.
