Ruine St. Ruprecht
Ehingen, Germany, Germany
Ruine St. Ruprecht is the remnant of an old spur‑castle (Spornburg) perched on a rocky hilltop about 600 meters above sea level, a short distance from the village of Erbstetten in the greater Ehingen an der Donau area of Baden‑Württemberg, Germany.
The site lies in a wooded position on a narrow ridge where two valleys meet, giving it a naturally defensive location that once overlooked the surrounding countryside along the Lauter valley. Today all that remains are scattered masonry fragments and traces of walls, with no major tower or intact building, so the ruin mainly offers a quiet, atmospheric spot for walkers and history‑interested visitors rather than a fully preserved structure.
Because of its location near other local ruins such as Wartstein and Monsberg, it is often visited as part of a broader hiking route through the Ehingen hills and forested Swabian Alb foothills.
