Ruiny zamku w Krupem
Krupe, Poland, Poland
Ruiny zamku w Krupem, near Krupe in eastern Poland's Lublin region, is a 15th-century Renaissance bastion castle ruin overlooking the Wieprz River marshes.
Built in 1492 by Jerzy Krupski as a small fortified residence, it was expanded by Samuel Zborowski with a curtain wall and four bastions, then thoroughly rebuilt mid-16th century by Paweł Orzechowski into a larger stronghold with artillery-equipped bastions and surrounding fortifications.
Damaged by Swedish forces in 1656 during the Deluge and further ruined by a 1665 fire that destroyed economic buildings, it was partially rebuilt in 1670 by Mikołaj Rej's descendants but abandoned after an 18th-century blaze and additional wartime demolitions, leaving today visible walls, northern bastion fragments, moats, and an outer bailey.
