Runder Berg
Bad Urach, Germany, Germany
The Runder Berg near Bad Urach is a rounded, oval hill rising about 711 meters above sea level on the Swabian Alb, towering roughly 250 meters above the surrounding Ermstal and Maisental valleys.
Its small, crown‑like plateau hosted several prehistoric and early historic hilltop settlements, including the fortified seat of an Alemannic petty king in the 4th and 5th centuries, which makes it one of the more important archaeological sites on the Swabian Alb.
Today the area is a quiet, scenic spot within a protected landscape, popular for gentle hikes and short walks that offer views over the valley and a chance to stand on a piece of long‑settled early‑Germanic history without much visible construction left on the summit.
