Rynek w Białej
Biała, Poland, Poland
Rynek w Białej, today Plac Wojska Polskiego in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, was laid out in 1723 when King Augustus II granted the town city rights, forming a rectangular square of about 100 by 80 meters initially lined with wooden houses and used for markets and fairs.
By the late 18th century, it became known as Stary Rynek after a Nowy Rynek was created nearby, with wooden structures gradually replaced by brick buildings, including a classicist town hall in 1827 and a neobaroque palace in 1880.
The 19th century brought neorenaissance town hall in 1897 and further development, evolving from a trade hub to a preserved historic space blending its original layout with later architectural styles.
