Sandwich Harbour in Namibia, located about 55 kilometers south of Walvis Bay within the Namib-Naukluft National Park, is a striking natural site where some of the world's tallest sand dunes plunge directly into the Atlantic Ocean.

The area features a shallow lagoon surrounded by sandy desert, supporting rich biodiversity including flamingos, pelicans, and various wading birds, making it an important Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. Historically, the harbour was a commercial fishing and trading port, but in 1890 a sand spit broke off, making the harbour too shallow for ships and leading to its decline.

Today, access is limited to guided 4x4 tours that navigate the challenging terrain of dunes and tides, providing visitors with an unforgettable experience of this unique desert-meets-ocean landscape known for its dramatic beauty and ecological significance.
