Santa Maria Bay (also called Santa Marija Bay) is a small, peaceful sandy beach on the north coast of Comino, the tiny island between Malta and Gozo.

It features shallow, crystal-clear turquoise waters that are calm and safe for children, making it an excellent spot for swimming and snorkeling. The beach is a quieter, more relaxed alternative to the nearby famous Blue Lagoon, which is only about a 20-minute walk away, and it attracts mostly locals and guests from the Comino Hotel rather than large tourist crowds.

Santa Maria Bay sits next to Comino’s small police station and has lifeguards on duty, though amenities are limited with no chair or umbrella rentals, no restrooms, and only basic food and drink stands available. The shoreline often has dry posidonia (seagrass) washed up, but the beach remains clean with bins around, and the area offers great diving opportunities in Comino’s clear blue waters.
